Hollywood has suffered another loss. Golden Girl Bea Arthur passed away today, and here’s what Yahoo! had to say about it:
“Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows “Maude” and “The Golden Girls” and who won a Tony Award for the musical “Mame,” died Saturday. She was 86.
Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.”
What Yahoo! failed to mention was that Bea did a little stint on Futurama. In the episode “Amazon Women in the Mood”, Bea voiced “Fem-Puter”, the leader of the Amazonians who sentenced Fry, Zap Branigan, and Kiff to death by Snoo-Snoo. Bender saved the day in this one by showing the Fem-Bot inside the Fem-puter a little robo-lovin’. I think I’ll watch that episode again in her honor.
