This is the potential name being throw around for the title of the Beastie Boys’ new album. The offering will be the group’s eighth studio release and according to MCA it will be comprised of “a lot of rhyming and playing and sampling—all combined.” While a release date has not been announced the Beastie’s will be hitting the studio hard over the next few weeks to master the ablum and plan on touring this summer in support of the release. As of the moment they have only confirmed one date: the headlining spot at Bonnaroo on June 12, 2009 (source, other source).
I have to admit that I did not purchase The Mix-Up, although I definitely dug some of the tracks off the instrumental release (check out Kangaroo Rat), but I am psyched to hear that they plan on picking up the mics on this album and will give it my full attention.
As I write this I’m listening to the BS 2000 release Simply Mortified (thank you Oh Mars) which was Adrock’s side project with the Beastie’s touring drummer Amery Smith released in 2001 –interesitng to say the least, but it definitely makes me crave something new from Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego. Oh, in other Beastie Boy’s news, the group has released a 20th anniversary edish of Paul’s Boutique.
