Monday Morning Wood

Ay yo. Springsteen absolutely destroyed it last night during Halftime. “Born to Run” and “Workin’ on a Dream” were a given, but opening with “10th Avenue Freeze-Out” was an awesome surprise. “Glory Days” never did anything for me, fitting for the Super Bowl though. I guess some football was played too. Clarence wore his 12th level cleric robe and looked like he had just eaten a pie made of children.

Tim and Eric melted everyone’s brain on Saturday night at the Wilbur Theater in Boston. Special guests included DJ Dougg Pound, David Liebe Hart, and James Quall. Victorian Blood, Iamlunaschlosser, and yours truly were right up front. I got pulled up on stage for the Tim and Eric Touch. Basically they had on huge Mickey Mouse-ish gloves and touched me all over my body. I think it was supposed to make me funnier? They also told me that I needed work. Above is the only video I could find from the show.

There were a grip of previews during the Super Bowl last night: Star Trek (whatever), GI Joe (kill yourself), Monsters Versus Aliens (awesome), Year One (grooooan), and Angels and Demons (clutches heart). The one I’m most excited about? A&D, dummy! It’s got Tom Hanks and it’s based on the novel by best-selling author Dan Brown! The only way it can suck is if Ron Howard were to direct! …wait, what? D’oh!

Icon Steve Martin is releasing an album of original banjo music called “The Crow.” You can listen to some tracks over at the NY Times site. According to the article, Martin is considered to be a master of the difficult clawhammer five-finger style. He’s also a master of the unnecessary sequel.

People watching the Super Bowl in Tucson, Arizona had an awkward moment with their children when, with three minutes left to play, something odd happened:

The Star newsroom was flooded with calls from irate viewers who said that the porn cut into the game with less than three minutes left to play, just after Arizona Cardinals player Larry Fitzgerald scored on a touchdown pass from Kurt Warner to put the team in the lead.
Callers said that the clip showed a woman unzipping a man’s pants, followed by a graphic act between the two. (Source)
Over at the Mishka Bloglin, I’m doing a Battlestar recap every Sunday morning and a Lost one every Thursday night. So, uh, read them. Chu’uch.

There’s a lot of hate going around on Bruce’s performance, don’t buy into it. The “delay of game” was kinda lame, but c’mon I was watching the game with my children (hypothetically) and truly appreciated a good clean, rockin’ halftime show.
