Legendary actor Ricardo Montalban, famous for his roll of Khan in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, hath left his corporeal form and is now granting the fantasies of the Gods. From Yahoo.com:
“Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s “Fantasy Island,” died Wednesday morning at his home, a city councilman said. He was 88.”
I never was a huge fan of Fantasy Island, mostly due to the fact that I was just a tad too young (that and his “little person” side kick freaked me out). His work in the world of nerds was what got me interested in this suave sultan with the silver tongue. Take a look-see at the following videos, then call out of work for the rest of the week, and watch those films (back to back, and don’t stop for one second. Don’t stop! Don’t you fucking stop!).
Here’s a tribute to Montalban’s Khan character:
Ricardo spent a little time as an Animated Asshole on Freakazoid as Armondo Guitierrez:
Senor Montalban was Leslie Nielson’s rival in The Naked Gun: From the files of Police Squad:
Unfortunately, I was unable to find great clips of Ricardo from Escape from the Planet of the Apes, or Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. But those who know this great actor shouldn’t need to see them. Tonight I shall be watching both films, in his honor. So raise your cattle horns high my friends, and toss one back for Ricardo Montalban. He will be missed.
