More recently than ever, I’ve heard customers complaining about the rising cost of comic books. It seems to be something that goes with the times. Years ago, you used to be able to go to the newsstand and by every comic on the stands for only a few bucks and you’d still have money left in your pocket…or so I’m told. I haven’t really seem a problem with the rising cost of comics.Yes, they do cost more than they did a few years ago and it seems that more and more comics are being released with a $3.99 price tag. But look what you’re getting in return.
The quality of comics has skyrocketed since I first started collecting comics (early 90’s….ahem..), and I think in large the stories are more reflective to our times and interests. (Sorry about the tangent there…)
Well, don’t get your panties in a knot (Nevermind, I’m not sorry), because this book costs a whopping $3.50! Its an offshoot of a fabulous series from Dynamite Comics called Project Superpowers….the Black Terror!
Though this book takes a character who was originally produced in the 40’s; (I believe) it’s been revitalized by artist extraordinaire Alex Ross and his partner in crime, Jim Krueger to fit on the stands alongside books like Superman and the X-Men. In this issue the Black Terror goes on a rampage to find his sidekick Tim (Like Bucky to Captain America…who disappear when fighting zee Germans in WWII). The Black Terror’s trail of …terror(?) winds its way to the White House where he’ll confront the president of the United States!
In case you are interested there are alternative covers to all of the project Superpowers books. Some of which resemble books from the 40’s-60’s!
