Repo Man Sequel to Begin Production

December 4, 2008

The sequel to Alex Cox’s 1984 masterpiece Repo Man is going into production in January ’09. David Lynch is attached to produce Repo Chick (I’m not kidding). From /Film:

Cox has previously said that the follow-up will “unfold against the background of the credit crunch and the subprime mortgage crisis in the US, where repossessions of homes, cars, and other forms of property is at a new high. ‘The repo business has expanded to everything from boats, houses, aeroplanes, small nations…children”.

I think as long as Cox is helming, the chaotic fun that made up Repo Man can definitely be recaptured. Harry Dean Stanton is still kicking, please God, let him revive the role of Bud.

“Credit is a sacred trust, it’s what our free society is founded on. Do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia? I said, do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia?” – Bud to Otto

Marijuana Nation: A Highly Informative Documentary

December 4, 2008

Oh, Mars’ post on space beer, which fucking rules, has inspired me to spill the beans on a little documentary I caught Tuesday on the National Geographic channel. Marijuana Nation follows journalist Lisa Ling as she investigates all angles of an issue that has a history of divisiveness in the United States. Ling drops in on the newly dubbed Oakesterdam section of Oakland, California, ventures north into popular growing spots which have recently invaded California state forests and cruises with pot aficionado Mark Emery to one of, if not the, most advanced indoor grow facilities in the world. Check it out Saturday, December 6th at 7pm if you have a chance.
