For those of you that don’t know me that well, I happen to be a big DVD collector. Everything from TV shows to films has a space in this horde of mine. In fact, two new box sets have just made their grand arrival……seasons 1 and 2 of the hit Showtime series DEXTER.
Going into this show there were mixed feelings pulsating through my mind. It is now safe to say, that after watching all of season 1, this show is out of this world.
To all out there who aren’t familiar with the show, DEXTER is a tale about a forensic blood spatter specialist, who happens to be a serial killer on the side. He lives by a strict code that was imparted onto him by his foster father. You see, his foster father saw his killer instincts at a young age, and decided to teach him how to channel his “urges”. This is done by only killing those who are killers themselves.
A show like this comes along once in a blue moon. Michael C. Hall (who you might know from Six Feet Under) brings a chilling performance to the tube, along with some super funny one-liners. It’s spooky just how well Hall manages to capture the lack of feelings and false emotions that true serial killers possess. The writers on this show deserve awards, if they haven’t received any to date, for the dialogue and spectacular twist at the end of this season
It is highly suggested by this lover of good television, that you purchase this show. If season 2 is as good as the first, Showtime must be added to the Camelot cable box. After all, season 3 is just around the corner.
