Heavy Metal Monday: ODIN

It’s been roughly a week and a half since my fantastic trip to the far away land of Maryland, yet my brain continues to replay all of the awesome events that took place.  One such event came courtesy of my pal Woo.  While I was busy drooling over the enormous amount of rare/out of print horror movies, he stumbled across a few copies of The Decline of Western Civilization Part II:  The Metal Years (a film that has eluded me for quite some time).  This movie is infamous in the metal community, mostly due to the scene with Chris Holmes from W.A.S.P..

One of the bands that gets highlighted in this film is named ODIN, and boy are they entertaining. Every arrogant phrase that gets shot out of their mouths is pure gold.  Shucks, even their music is highly laughable.  But despite the fact that their brains reside in another solar system and their name was lost in the chaos that was the 80’s, the guys from ODIN were at least having a killer time.  Check out their music:

Shining Love

ODIN was able to pump out a few EPs back in the day, with one full length album named “Fight For Your Life” that got released in Japan (surprise surprise).  Their now “famous” song “12 O’clock High” can be found on that album, as well as in the film DWCP2.  For all the laughing I’ve done watching these guys in that movie (mostly at the singer for wearing ass-less chaps), I still think their music is okay.  I wouldn’t go as far as hunting down all of their music, but a song or two on the ole iPod couldn’t hurt.
